First Trimester Screening

Yesterday, September 23rd was the end to our first trimester. At 12 weeks we went in for our second ultrasound and to test for any chromosomal disorders. We were lucky to have Grandma and Grandpa Drew in town to share the moment with us.

When the ultrasound began it was amazing to see the development since our last appointment. The baby went from 0.6 cm to 13.6 cm in just over a month! The images the technician was pulling up were in 2D, 3D, and 4D... crazy to see how much technology was able to show us. We were also very lucky to the baby moving inside, the doctor said we had a mover! The baby moved up, down, and even had hiccups!

The chromosomal testing were also very positive. Testing the lining behind the baby's neck showed a very small likelihood of any chromosomal problems. All we both want is a very healthy baby!

And lastly, the sex of the baby! The technician asked if we wanted her opinion and of course we said yes. She said, "I think its a girl!" She did explain she wasn't 100% sure, but that was her belief. Then at the end the doctor came in to take some final images. We asked again the odds of the baby being a girl... 60/40? 70/30? She looked at us and said, "It's a girl!" We are excited to have this great news, and in another month we will be able to tell 100% if it really is a girl!

Here are some of the images of Baby Stoebe at 12 weeks!...
